At Peak Learning Academy, we prioritize Connection before Correction to help spirited and sensitive learners thrive.
Peak is a 2nd–8th grade micro-school in New River, Arizona. We provide a sanctuary for students who thrive in a small, home-based environment where emotional safety is the foundation of every day. By prioritizing regulation and hands-on discovery, we help our students regain their spark and their natural love for learning.
We believe that some of the most important lessons are learned outside the four walls of a traditional school. Our Survival Days are a cornerstone of our curriculum, designed to foster independence, critical thinking, and real-world resilience.
During these immersive experiences, students step away from their desks to engage with the world around them. Whether they are navigating local trails, mastering practical life skills, or working together to solve environmental challenges, they are building the grit and confidence necessary for a successful future. These days are not just a break from the routine; they are a vital opportunity for students to apply their academic knowledge in tangible, meaningful ways.
By prioritizing hands-on problem solving, we ensure that our students do not just study the world—they learn how to thrive within it.
At Peak, we respect the physiological needs of the developing brain. Our Recess-First philosophy ensures that students are physically active, socially connected, and emotionally regulated before they are ever asked to engage in formal academic work.
By starting our day with movement and outdoor play, we allow children to discharge excess energy and find their "calm alert" state. This approach prioritizes the nervous system, recognizing that a child who is dysregulated cannot effectively process new information. Once our students have moved their bodies and connected with their peers, they enter the classroom with a genuine readiness to focus and learn. We do not view play as a reward for finishing work; we view it as the essential foundation that makes deep learning possible.
The Heart Behind Peak
I founded Peak Learning Academy after watching my own daughter’s light begin to dim in a system that prioritized compliance over connection. With a background in Network Systems, I look at education through the lens of meaningful connectivity and intentional design. I am dedicated to seeing the child first and the student second. We aren’t just a school; we are a sanctuary for families who know their child is capable of so much more when they are truly seen.
