Frequently Asked Questions

The Peak Philosophy

Is Peak Learning Academy a good fit for "spirited" or active learners?

Absolutely. We designed Peak for children who thrive when given autonomy and movement rather than compliance and containment. Our model is highly effective for students who find the "sit-still-and-listen" nature of traditional classrooms challenging. We excel with students who need hands-on engagement, clear boundaries, and a relationship-first approach to take ownership of their learning.

Do you support students with Dyslexia or other learning differences?

Yes. Because of our small class sizes, we are able to provide the custom pacing that students with Dyslexia often need to thrive. Please note that if a student requires specialized 1-on-1 intervention or significantly modified instruction beyond our core curriculum framework, an individualized support fee may be added to tuition to cover dedicated planning and resources.

What does "Recess-First" actually look like?

Most schools save play for the end of the day; we lead with it. We start our mornings with outdoor movement because nervous system regulation is the foundation of education. Getting kids outside first thing in the morning reduces anxiety, expands focus, and ensures their brains are actually ready for deep academic work when we transition inside.

What are "Survival Days"?

Survival Days are our signature outdoor learning days. We take education outside the four walls of the classroom to build grit, problem-solving skills, and real-world resilience. Whether we are practicing primitive skills or exploring the Arizona landscape, we are building confidence that a textbook simply can't provide.

Academics & Logistics

Is Peak Learning Academy an accredited school?

Yes! We are fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). This accreditation ensures that we meet high standards of educational quality and that the credits your child earns here are recognized and respected by colleges and other schools nationwide.

What grade levels do you serve?

We currently serve learners from 2nd through 8th grade. Our mixed-age environment allows older students to practice leadership and younger students to find mentorship, creating a true community feel.

What curriculum do you use?

We utilize a blended approach to education. We use iReady to track and ensure growth in core subjects like Math and Language Arts, while our Science and Social Studies are taught through hands-on, project-based learning. This allows us to meet academic standards while following the child’s natural curiosity.

What is your policy on homework?

We believe that after a focused day of learning, children need time for rest, play, and family. We do not assign traditional homework. We focus on mastery during school hours so that your evenings can remain a time for connection, not conflict.

How do you motivate students to complete their work?

We use a "School Economy" system where students earn Spark Coins for completing their academic work and being positive team members. These coins can be used at our School Store or to "purchase" special privileges, like extra recess. Conversely, if a student chooses not to follow our class agreements, they may lose coins. This teaches real-world accountability, the value of hard work, and the natural consequences of our choices.

Tuition & Enrollment

Are you an ESA-approved provider?

Yes. We are a proud Arizona ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account) provider. As an accredited private school, our families can confidently utilize their scholarship funds to cover tuition costs.

How much is tuition?

Base tuition for our standard micro-school program is flat-rate and fully eligible for Arizona ESA funding. Individual adjustments are only made if a student requires specialized, 1-on-1 academic support plans. For our current rate schedule and fee breakdown, please refer directly to our Self-Selection Packet.

Can I tour the school?

To protect the privacy and focus of our current students, we do not offer general public tours. However, once an Interest Form is submitted and we determine we may be a good fit for your family, we can schedule a tour where you will get to see our space.

How do we get started?

Because we maintain low ratios, our physical seats for the upcoming school year are full. To join our pipeline for future openings, the first step is to read our Self-Selection Packet to ensure our values align. From there, you will fill out our Interest From to apply for a spot on our Priority Waitlist. If a seat that matches your child's grade level opens up, we will contact you immediately to schedule a discovery call.
